‘Wheel of Fortune’ Fans Are ‘Enraged’ After Contestant’s ‘Painful’ Mistake Cost Her $7,250
“Wheel of Fortune” fans vented their frustration on social media after one contestant’s mistake cost her $7,250.
During Tuesday’s episode of the long-running game show, contestant Kimberly Wright of Apopka, Florida, failed to complete a puzzle when she chose the wrong letter.
When the puzzle board read “DU _ _ – _ _ LLED PLATYPUS,” Wright decided to spin the wheel and landed on the Express wedge.
“I’m going to say an F,” Wright said to groans from the studio audience.

Wright apparently believed the correct answer was “duck-stuffed platypus” when it was actually “duck-billed platypus.”

After Wright didn’t give the correct answer, contestant Marie Kioski of Owosso, Michigan, solved the puzzle and won the money and a trip to the Margaritaville Vacation Club Rio Mar in Puerto Rico.
“Wheel of Fortune” fans quickly took to social media to express their disbelief at Wright’s mistake.
“I’ve never been more furious watching the Ferris wheel,” declared one fan while responding to a clip of the viral moment.
“Oh, that was painful. F? She thought the platypus was full? Of what exactly?” wrote one viewer on X, formerly Twitter.
“Damn, brutal,” another fan agreed.

“Where did this lady think an F was going to go in this puzzle?” another social media user wondered.
One fan wrote: “The Ferris wheel puzzle was clearly a duck-billed platypus and the lady asked for an F – it’s like a reverse autocorrect.”
“A platypus stuffed with duck!?” a fan chimed in.

“Oh, I hope Red isn’t on social media. She’ll get criticized for missing that puzzle,” another viewer commented.
“Wheel of Fortune” legend Pat Sajak hosted the episode, which aired nearly a month after he taped his last episode.
After more than four decades as a host, Sajak’s final episode will air on Friday, June 7, according to Deadline. The farewell episode was recorded on April 5.

In June 2023, Sajak announced that he was leaving the show..

In response to the news of Sajak’s departure, her “Wheel of Fortune” co-host Vanna White posted: “When we started @WheelofFortune, who could have imagined we’d still be doing this 41 seasons later? I couldn’t be happier to We have shared the stage with you for all these years and one more is yet to come. Greetings, @patsajak!
A week after Sajak’s news broke, it was announced that Ryan Seacrest would take over as host for season 42.
