Shaq’s reaction to Shannon Sharpe’s opinion on his work ethic in the NBA
Shaquille O’Neal admits that he found time to talk Shannon SharpClickbait comments! On Thursday, Shaq reached out to Shannon via Instagram, recommending his fellow retired athlete to Google. Then on Friday, he released a diss track for Shannon (scroll down to listen to it)!
Why do they attack each other?
O’Neill bumped into Sharpe via Instagram. He was responding to a viral video in which Sharpe claims Shaq is “jealous” that he’s not the GOAT of basketball. The conversation took place on Sharpe’s Night Cap podcast with Chad Ochocinco and Gilbert Arenas.
“You’ll never see another guy with Shaq’s size and athleticism be as dominant as he is. Shaq should have had five MVP awards… but look, when you are historically great, you are talked about as a basketball legend, a goat, and Shaq is never remembered. And I think part of him is jealous of that,” Sharp said. Doubling down: “I have a hard time engaging someone in a conversation with one MVP. Regular season,” Shannon said.
He continued by stating that if Shaq had his “work ethic, he would have scored 40,000 points.”

Shaq Says Shannon Is ‘Trying To Stay Relevant By Gossiping’
Shaq didn’t hold back on Shannon Sharpe, applauding him in several posts on his Instagram. He accused him said “anything to get clicks,” denied envy and checked his stats.
“If you are not among the top ten in your profession, then you cannot talk about Me. Don’t forget, I know what you did to get where you are. I’m jealous lol, it looks like you’re jealous. I know you try to stay relevant by gossiping on your podcast. we don’t believe you. you need more people and if you forgot. 4 rings, three finals, top 50 and top 75 MVP. Google it. and honestly, all this new success you’ve achieved, you’re still under me. You don’t know my work ethic. but, apparently, I work less than you, but cost more than you. give it meaning. love you too.”
Shaq also told Sharpe that there were “better ways” to earn a living than “gossip.” Regarding the “goat”, O’Neill wrote: “I never wanted to be an asshole, I wanted to be the one you should greet me as the MOST DOMINANT one in the world.”

Sharpe reacts to Shaquille O’Neal’s resistance
Shannon seemed to pick up on Shaq’s claps and started doubling down on his “GOAT” sentiment. Sharp noted that the former Magic player admitted he didn’t work, eat or train as hard “as he should have.” He said Shaq always brings up the former MVP’s loss when someone wins an award.
Shannon said he has no problem giving flowers to other athletes because he has been able to “maximize” his abilities.
“Do you know why I have no problem giving other people credit? Because I got everything I could from my God-given abilities. God gave me the ability to do what I can, but he gave me discipline, he gave me dedication. The way I train, the way I eat, the way I sleep is all I can get. So I would feel the same way if I had those numbers and half-estimated them, but I never underestimated them.”
Sharpe admitted that his NFL career doesn’t match Shaquille’s NBA stats. However, he added that he “maximized” what he needed to get what he got!
He acknowledged that Shaq will always have more and be bigger than him in the public eye. “But no one will ever say that I deceived myself,” Sharp added.
