Apple and OpenAI “finalize terms” for introducing ChatGPT to iOS 18
Apple is reportedly close to an agreement with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into iOS 18.
Latest report from bloombergMark Garman denied persistent rumors of a partnership ahead of the expected AI announcement at Apple’s developer conference WWDC in June.

“The two parties are finalizing the terms of an agreement to use ChatGPT functionality in Apple’s iOS 18,” Garman said. We don’t yet know what those features will be, but insiders say Apple could leverage generative AI to improve existing apps and services. This could include a summary feature for Messages and Safari, as well as improvements to his Spotlight search on the home screen.

according to new york times, Apple is also planning a major overhaul of Siri, with enhancements to generative AI that could make the voice assistant smarter and more capable. Speaking of voice assistants, OpenAI is reportedly developing its own voice assistant. However, it is unclear whether this is part of discussions with Apple or whether it will be positioned as a competitor to Siri.
To complicate matters further, Apple is also reportedly in talks with Google to bring Gemini’s generative AI capabilities to Apple devices, but the outlet says those talks have not yet resulted in an agreement.
