All your questions about LED light therapy tools at home answered
What are the benefits of LED light therapy?
“Benefits include brighter, smoother, healthier skin,” Rachel said. “Because it increases microcirculation in the skin, you get an immediate glow. LED treats a variety of skin conditions: fine lines, wrinkles, rosacea, scars, keloids, eczema, dry skin, acne, pigmentation, oily skin and hair growth. “
However there is easy start treatment. “The downside is the time it takes,” noted the Blue Water Spa founder, “and the consistency with which you have to do it.”
It is also important to note that LED devices at home will not give the same effect as the procedure in the office. But they can prolong results between visits and improve your skin overall.
What skin conditions cannot be treated with LED light therapy?
Although LED light therapy can help treat a variety of skin problems, there are a few conditions for which it is not intended.
“LED does not treat vitiligo, inflamed pimples, or acne,” Rachel noted. “Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease and is not affected by LED light therapy.”
Acne and inflamed pimples also cannot be effectively treated. “This is considered to be the entry of dirt, dead skin and oil into the hair follicle,” she continued. “Only exfoliation and extraction can remove them.”
Another tip to keep in mind? LED does not work well with some procedures. “If you were just getting a peel,” the laser technician added, “I would avoid using LEDs. But after the first day, you can resume your daily LED treatments.”
