Stream Netflix, Hulu, and more: Top new TV shows and movies to watch this week

Planning a long weekend away and looking for recommendations on what to watch? While not many new releases are coming out at the end of May, we’ve combed through each streaming service to pick out movies and TV shows that might pique your interest. From horror movies to animated series to documentaries, there are several options to choose from.

Hulu will be spooking fans with The First Omen this week, while Disney+ will continue to air new episodes of Doctor Who and will also premiere director Ron Howard’s Jim Henson: Idea Man (May 31), taking viewers deep into the iconic puppeteer’s archives and storytelling legacy.

Max will bring back Superman and conclude season 3 of Hucks on May 30, as well as releasing an original film, Movie Pass, Movie Crush, which focuses on movie-watching subscription services. Peacock broadcasts live sports and reality TV shows, with season 19 of America’s Got Talent premiering on May 29.

Whether you want to watch Atlas starring Jennifer Lopez this weekend is up to you, but Netflix has other titles in its lineup this week. Stream the other titles listed below on all streaming services, including Butterfly in the Sky: The Story of Reading Rainbow (May 24), Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult (May 29), and Patrick Melrose (May 29).

Adventures with Superman (May 26)

Season 2 of My Adventures with Superman will premiere as an hour-long episode on Adult Swim on May 25. The new episode will stream on Max the following day, on May 26, but you can also watch Season 1 on the platform before watching.

A prequel to The Omen film series, The First Omen takes audiences back to Rome. In 1971, a woman named Margaret is sent to work at a church where a conspiracy begins to unfold. The film paves the way for Damien’s appearance in the 1976 classic film. The film stars Nell Tiger Free, Bill Nighy, and Sonia Braga. U.S. viewers can stream it on Hulu.

Evil season 4 hits TV screens with its first episode on May 23 and will be available to watch every Thursday. The show will be available to stream all summer long, so if you’re new to the series, you can start by binge-watching all three seasons on Paramount Plus.

Following the release of its Beatles documentary earlier this month, Disney+ will be releasing a documentary on The Beach Boys that will treat viewers to interviews with the band’s legendary members Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks and Bruce Johnston, chronicling the band’s history from start to finish.

Benedict Cumberbatch stars in this thriller as a father searching for his missing child. Set in 1980s New York, Eric follows Vincent, a famous puppeteer, as he desperately searches for his son. He invents a new character called Eric in the hopes that a monster can help him bring his child back. With his marriage already on the rocks, Vincent’s increasingly erratic behavior puts everything in jeopardy.

Season 2 will see further adjustments as President Mulligan and her fellow survivors struggle to navigate life on an alien planet. Things get tense, bizarre, and potentially deadly.
