Gabby Douglas withdrew from US Championships after returning

Gabby Douglas withdrew from the US Championships
Douglas’s unfortunate injury ended her bid for the 2024 Paris Olympic team. Gabby returned to competition this spring after an absence of nearly eight years, hoping to make the U.S. team for the summer Games in Paris.
Despite the circumstances, the gymnast said ESPN that she is proud of what she has achieved in her 18-month return.
“I love the sport and I love pushing my limits. “I hope I can inspire both my peers and the next generation of gymnasts that age is just a number and you can achieve anything you work hard for.” Douglas told ESPN.
Gabby is the first Black gymnast to win an Olympic all-around title at the 2012 London Games and helped the U.S. earn back-to-back team gold medals in London and Rio in 2016, according to EPSN.
Gabby officially announced her comeback earlier this year in February. She later returned to competition in April at the American Classic in Katy, Texas, where she qualified for the US Championships.

Following the announcement of Gabby’s retirement, the Romeis showed love to the Olympic champion in Comments section “Shadow Room”. Several social media users shared their disappointment over the news and wished her a speedy recovery.

Gabby is excited about the future
The US Championships would be Gabby’s last chance to earn an invitation to the Olympic Trials in Minneapolis in June. However, she plans to continue training in preparation for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. She will also reunite with her longtime representative Lowell Taub of Range Sports.
“I have proven to myself and the sport that my skills remain at an elite level. My plan is to continue preparing for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. It would be a great honor to represent the United States at our home Olympics.” Gabby said in a statement.
