The 6-foot-3 Heisman Trophy winner got going and bounced his throw to the receiver’s right. The ball almost fell into the hands of the Commanders’ mascot, Major Tuddy.
Fortunately, no one expects him to throw punches on the diamond.
The Commanders selected Daniels with the second overall pick in the 2024 draft in April. He was a standout player at LSU, with 3,812 passing yards and 40 touchdown passes in his final season with the Tigers. This helped him earn high praise and one of the top draft picks.

Daniels has gotten his feet wet in organized team activities (OTAs) in recent weeks. It’s just the beginning of a long journey as he prepares to take the reins as starting quarterback in 2024.
“As we get started, it’s like it’s a big passing camp. So for the quarterbacks, they’re getting really good looks,” Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said via the team’s website . “You know, there are a number of coverages that have been done, you know, from day one where it was maybe only three people deep and man-to-man.
“So, seeing that kind of progress from him and the other quarterbacks, I think it’s good. In the next few weeks, we’ll add team stuff and blitzes and you know, a pocket and that kind of stuff, but I think that “What jumps out not only off the tape here, what you don’t see in the meeting room is just the competitive nature and the learning and the mastery that he already has. That’s something that speaks to his work ethic.”
