Ozempic is no joke for a comedian. Handler said her “anti-aging doctor” prescribed the drug, but she didn’t know what it was.
“I didn’t even know I was in this,” she said on the Jan. 25, 2023 episode of the show. Call her dad. “She said, ‘If you ever want to lose five pounds, that’s good.’
But while she tried the drug, Handler noted that she didn’t like what she felt.
“I came back from vacation and gave myself an injection,” she recalls. “A few days later I went to lunch with a friend and she said, ‘I don’t eat anything at all. I’m so sick, I’m taking Ozempic.” And I thought, “I feel a little sick too.” But I had just returned from Spain and was suffering from jet lag.”
Handler ultimately stopped taking the drug because it was not medically necessary for her, adding that she gave away the remaining doses to friends.
“I injected four or five of my friends with Ozempic because I realized I didn’t want to use it because it was stupid,” she said. “This is for heavy people. People come to my house and I say, “Okay, I can see you at one, I can see you at 2.”
