OTT releasing this week: The Boys Season 4, Gaant Chapter 1, Do aur Do Pyaar and more.
The predominant theme of this week’s new releases seems to be thrill and tension. We travel to the Regency era, the world of superheroes, a crime scene and a strange case of mass suicide. The biggest releases are Prime Video’s The Boys Season 4, which follows a group of familiar vigilantes trying to take down corrupt superheroes, and Netflix’s Bridgertons Season 3 Part 2, which sees the elite entangled in complex love triangles and gossip.
Among the Indian originals, JioCinema has presented a gripping murder mystery story, Gant: Chapter 1, which makes you think about social psychosis. Next up is the somewhat similar Apple TV drama Presumed Innocent, in which an accuser is accused of murdering his colleague.
If you are in the mood for something light-hearted, you can go for Do aur Do Pyaar on Hotstar, which revolves around loveless marriages, extramarital affairs and romantic drama with an overall comedic touch. Another alternative is Zee5’s Luv Ki Arrange Marriage, in which the single parents of a potential couple preparing for marriage end up falling in love with each other.
However, if you’re not looking for anything in the romance or thrill genre, there’s a heartwarming new show coming to Amazon miniTV this week called Sisterhood that’s worth a watch. The story is set in a girls’ convent school and centers on a group of four girls: studious Zoya (Anvesha Vij), mischievous Nikita (Nitya Mathur), slow learner Anne (Bhagyashree Limaye) and wild girl Garji (Nidhi Bhanushali). The show is nostalgic and will probably make you smile a few times. However, don’t expect a very deep exploration of the complexities of human emotion.
