Gordon Ramsay shows off his HUGE bruise from a bicycle accident

Gordon Ramsay doesn’t let a terrible bike accident and severe, deep bruises stop him from filming. Days after the helmet “saved” his life, the world-famous chef shared a video message from one of the sets of his cooking show.

He took the importance of safety while cycling seriously and expressed gratitude that his accident was not more serious. To reinforce his message, the “Master Chef” creator lifted his apron, revealing purple skin around his chest and sides.

This is how Gordon Ramsay came to look like a ‘purple potato’

As mentioned, Gordon opened up about his bike accident on Instagram on Saturday (June 15). He started his video by introducing himself while one of his hands was shaking violently. It’s also the word Ramsay used to explain how last week’s incident made him feel.

“…it really shocked me,” he said. “I’m lucky to be here.”

Gordon expressed gratitude to the “amazing” surgeons and doctors who treated his injuries at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut. He also explained why cyclists, including children, should wear “helmets”, regardless of the distance they travel or the cost of safety equipment.

“I’m hurt, it’s been a brutal week.” Gordon shared, confirming his luck.

His face and arms looked fine, but when he lifted his shirt, bruises appeared to extend to one side of his chest and stomach, as well as one side of his back.

His carousel post also included a photo of his helmet, which appeared to have been badly scratched and burned from the impact. The yellow T-shirt worn by the cycling enthusiast was also clearly torn.

“I’m fine, I didn’t break any bones or have any serious injuries, but I have a few bruises and I look like a purple potato,” the Michelin-starred chef said.

Gordon included a Father’s Day message in his post about the bike accident.

Gordon Ramsay also took the opportunity to highlight Father’s Day by updating his 17.4 million subscribers about his accident. In the caption, he summarized the incident and provided an update on his health ahead of the national holiday.

“…Most of all I am grateful for my helmet, which saved my life. I wish you a happy Father’s Day and stay safe.” He wrote.

Luckily, it looks like the chef’s injuries haven’t stopped his work. As for Father’s Day, Gordon was lucky enough to celebrate it six times.

PEOPLE reports that he and his wife Tana welcomed their first child, Megan, in 1998. They had twin daughters Holly Anna and Jack Scott, daughter Matilda (also known as Tilly), son Oscar and son Jiz, all born in 2023.

Gordon Ramsey and Tana reportedly suffered a miscarriage in 2016, before Oscar was born.
