Celine Dion rarely appears on the red carpet with her son Rene-Charles
Dionne said she was diagnosed with a “very rare” progressive neurological disorder called stiffness syndrome, which was, of course, the first time most people had heard of it.
“As you know, I’ve always been an open book,” she said in an Instagram video. “I wasn’t ready to say anything before, but I’m ready now. I’ve been struggling with health issues for a long time and it was really hard for me to face those challenges and talk about everything I was going through.”
According to Dion, she suffered from muscle spasms that affected “every aspect” of her daily life, she sometimes found it difficult to walk, and, saddest of all, it was impossible for her to return to tour as she had planned.
“Every day I work diligently with my sports medicine therapist to regain my strength and ability to perform again,” Dion said. “But I have to admit it was a struggle.”
According to National Institutes of HealthSymptoms include stiffness in the muscles of the trunk, arms and legs, as well as increased sensitivity to noise, touch and emotional stress, all of which can cause muscle spasms.
