Will Smith changes things up with a new song at the 2024 BET Awards

The 2024 Bet Awards have officially been turned on their head – all thanks to Will Smith.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air The alum graced the awards show stage at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 30 to perform her new single, “You Can Make It,” about redemption. (And for even more highlights, check out every star in attendance here.)

Appearing on stage in a ring of fire, Will rapped about going through some tough times with Sunday Service Choir.

“The darker the hell you have to endure, the brighter the heaven you enjoy,” he sang. “Every storm ends in rain, hang in there.”

The track also encouraged listeners to dance in the darkest of times.

“No one has an easy ride. We all have our cross,” the 55-year-old musician read. “But there is wisdom in this fire.”

The debut of his catchy ballad marks his first solo song released in over six years, but it’s not the first time Will has picked up the mic again in recent months.
