“It’s a small thing, it’s not even an injury, but I remember feeling awkward because my real name is John, John William Ferrell, so the first day of school I’m going to be John,” he explained. The 56-year-old, whose parents decided to call him “Will” rather than his birth name, described the first week of school as “agonising” as he waited for teachers to figure out what was wrong but could not pinpoint why it bothered him so much.
